Cyber-crime is a very real and ever present threat in today’s society; a threat that seems to be escalating in recent months.

According to an article in the New York Times, earlier this month, Microsoft identified at least 30,000 of their customers that may have been victims of hackers tied to China. In this attack, hackers exploited holes in Exchange, a mail and calendar server created by Microsoft. Those systems are used by a broad range of customers, from small businesses to local and state governments and some military contractors. The hackers were able to steal emails and install malware to continue surveillance of their targets, and as of today, Microsoft said it has no sense of how extensive the theft was.

Upon hearing about such a large scale cybercrime, we thought it was a good day to remind our readers about the importance of Cyber Insurance. We encourage you to take a moment to read our original cyber insurance wisdom here.
