Insurance ID

Did you know you are required, by law, to carry evidence of auto insurance in your vehicle at all times?

It’s true! In most states you must not only carry proof of insurance in your vehicle, but you must also show it whenever requested by law enforcement, at DMV registering a vehicle and renewing a registration, or when you are in involved in a traffic accident.

When borrowing a car you should always ask the owner of the car where they keep the registration and insurance card within the vehicle. Even if the insurance is active and up to date, failure to produce these items when requested could result in hefty fines, legal fees, and even towing expenses.

It is a good practice when you receive your insurance policy to always place the Insurance ID Cards in the vehicle as soon as you get them. Alternatively to a physical copy, some insurance companies now allow you access online to pull up a copy at a moment’s notice from a smart phone.
